My current system. See system titled "Where I Am Going" for changes I am thinking about. Will probably consider the displaced equipment for a super bedroom system. I love this system as it is, but will need to replace the CD player. I would like to hear the Audio Aero Prestige when it comes out later this year. If I don't like it, or it's too expensive (probably), I'll probably consider another multi-channel SACD or SACD/DVD-V player. The above system was bought for about $13000 with primarily used and demo purchases. Hey Audiogon, where do you get a used Marantz 10B for $350?
System edited: I replaced the Philips CD80 with a Micromega T-Drive transport and a Theta Generation Va DAC. This was a significant improvement. Bass goes deeper. Dynamics and attack have improved. The midrange is more focused and female vocals are more real sounding. High frequency detail is slightly more apparent and high frequency response seems a little more extended. I bought an Ensemble Digiflux digital cable to support this new configuration. It is OK, but there are better cables around. Sound is a little ragged and overemphasized in the bass. I ordered the following cables from the cable company: Kimber AGDL Marigo Apparition Reference Siltech G3 Siltech G5 Purist Audio Dominus The Kimber and the Ensemble were not in the same league as the others. I preferred the Purist over all the others by a slight but noticaeable margin. Would put the two Siltechs next and the Marigo last but significantly above the other two cables. I can't afford the Purist now, so it's back to the Ensemble for now.
