This is an assemblage of some loved, but unused electronics abandoned along the path. More sophisticated and valuable pieces have been sold or traded, leaving these elderly, mostly mid-fi components to be stacked in the closet. The McIntosh MC-30s are the exception as they are a relatively new acquisition begging to be heard.
With the kids gone, an extra bedroom gets a semi-vintage rig. Most appreciated among this collection are the turntables and phono pre. Well, I also have to acknowledge the sonic contribution of the Signature preamp too.
The Mirage is omni-directional on the cheap and nicely fills the room.
More tubes would be great! I think that mid-fi especially benefits by being "caressed" by tube electronics. They can take the edge off of limited electronics and adds richness.
ICs - Stealth Air King (overkill), Snake River Cottonmouth (overkill), Audio Metallurgy GA-0 (very nice)
Power Cables - A mixture of Nordost, WireWorld, Shunyata
So the cabling is very respectable for such a modest system. And probably in no small measure contributes to a pretty decent and pleasant rig.
