My next purchase will be a record cleaning machine. I am thinking of the KAB unit as I do already have a vaccuum cleaner. I have a belt on order for the Oracle TT. I just got the speakers today (04-08-03) So the Plinius is starting to open up. I think the Buggtussels will work out fine. Speakers were the hardest part. Considered the VR2 and the Meadowlark Ospreys. I know the cdp has to go and it will later. The speakers are 10' apart with the tv, rack and doorway between them. Not the ideal set up, I know. The Grill covers have magnets in them so they just hang on the front or the back of the speaker. Neat Feature I think. Any comments, questions or suggestions will be appreciated
I am very limited at the time for experimenting. I pull them out sometimes about 2 to 2 1/2 feet I think they seem to image a little better that way. I usually just leave them about 12 inches off the wall due to room size. (long and narrow). I also never had the wires above the carpet had to go under so I do not know what kind of degradation there may be. I showed everyone in the house where they were and to please not step on them. I check them about once every six months. So far so good.
I also have Buggtussel Amygdala speakers and was wondering if you have experimented with placement. Mine are in a 14' by 16' room with a 9' ceiling. Speakers are about 25" from back wall, 20" from side walls and approx. 8' apart. I have been experimenting with toe in but am not sure I have found best position yet. Do you have any suggestions based on what you have tried for positioning? Thanks for any help
I am thoroughly enjoying the Buggtussels I think they are very comparable to a 3 way they image well and are extremely clear and crisp. I could not listen to them before I bought them either and information on the web is extremely scarce. They are very heavy though. I only wish I had a good cd player but that will come. I do not think you can go too far wrong with them. Of course I got mine as a demo so I saved a lot more money and did not take the full risk. I do not have "educated ears" but I think they are possibly the most underrated speaker out there. Hope this helps some.If you are around the Seattle area I would love to give you a listen to them this goes for anybody on audiogon who is interested.
I have been looking around to see who has Buggtussels. I am moving along in speakeres and they are on my short list. Problem is I can't hear them anywhere near me.
How do you like them? Do you feel you are missing anything relative to a 3 way system with slightly larger woofers?
BTW - What else did you compare the Buggs to when making your purchase decision.
