I have been gradually improving this system to provide wonderful relaxed sound in a medium sized basement room. This is it for me. Ever improving has reached the end of the line. Time to relax and enjoy the music.
I would like to hear your comments on the RA player, I wonder if you consider it a mid level player or a high resolution player. Sounded very nice when I listened to it at a local audio show, but they like to crank up the sound so much I could not get a handle on the players sound at my normal listening levels.
I was curious that you mentioned a DAC for computer capabilities, but the Cantata has those capabilities in spades. I had the early CD50 from Resolution and loved the sound. It just died and I was wondering how the Cantata was working for you. I got a trade-in offer from Resolution to upgrade.
"I imagine your system is 98% of what is possible in audio."
Yes, it always makes tons of sense to attempt quantifying issues of quality. Reminds me of when I was a kid and somebody asked me if I thought "wrestling is real." He went on to explain that he thought it was 60% real.
So you can "imagine" all you like but what it has to do with reality is, well, nothing.
It has become a glorious sounding system thanks to Audiogon. Now, I just have to figure out the computer audio piece as the Cantata just sounds fantastic using its in board CD spinner compared to my early attempts with a Dell laptop and generic USB cable.
System edited: System change. Just swapped out my Raysonic CD player for the wonderful Resolution Audio Cantata. Will gradually try the computer audio capabilities but the cd player capabilities are wonderful.
What are you changing your speaker wire to?? I notice you have Sablon single wire! I have heard the Sablon biwire with ground yields a huge improvement over the single wire! You may be able to get a large gain with a small investement!?
Nice to see you've posted your system. I went from Auditorium 23 speaker cable to Tempo Electric solid-core silver in Teflon tubing for both my amps, the Pass M2, and SET 300B. These sound best to me with my Tannoy HPD's.
For the price of these cables, a bi-wire pair should be affordable. A 12' run (single pair) was less than the A 23 cable.
