Are you still enjoying the Gamut speakers? I have recently purchased the RS7i and I am busy trying to dial them in with room placement. The double port design does make it challenging but I think I am close to final location. Two questions for you. First, your sources seem really out of step with the rest of your system. Have you upgraded source since your last post? Secondly, I am using Aesthetix gear from my prior speaker. I am curious about Gamut amplification. Have you upgraded from a different amplifier to the Gamut amps? Can you speak to how important the amps are to getting the sound you want?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can provide.
Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, the Gamut SS monoblocks match up very nicely with the Cary tube pre-amp and tube modded Denon CD/DVD for a very pleasing sound quality.
I do watch movies occasionally in this room but I have a dedicated HT room with a 65" Panasonic Plasma with 5.1 surround that I use majority of the time for movies. The big screen with surround sound is more of a cinema experience.
Regarding the toe-in of the speakers, Lars Goller, formerly of Gamut(and Scanspeak) who designed these speakers actually did my speaker set-up in home. He was masterful to watch how he walked the speakers around during the process and customized the set-up to pressurize the room that has some odd dimensions to it.
Needless to say when he was done I was blown away with how it made all the difference in the world with the exaggerated toe-in and uneven distance from the end walls again due to room dimensions. I will forever be thankful to Lars for sharing his skill and expertise with my system.
