Ok, last post :) I think the other pics are older. Ya, I am smart that way Bruce. I can't wait for my Samson amps. Paul engraved my top plates with musical notes!
Abruce, Congratulations! My good friend Jwm has one and I hear it often. It wonderfully reproduces music and takes no back seat to his excellent turntable front end at all. Charles,
Abruce, Israel does make a very powerful amplifier called the Dragon MKII. This amp has a huge power supply and massive transformers. It uses the 211 tubes in push-pull rather than SET. The Dragon would likely drive your Hales very well. Charles
Abruce I found measurements for your speaker on Stereophile. The Frankenstein would be a bad match with it. The Hales is85 db effficient and a 4 ohm load. In addition the load drops to below 2 ohms! in the midrange region(not good at all for a 300b SET).
Your Hales will certainly require a 'lot' of power and current to properly drive them(far outside the range of the Frankensteins). the Franks are superb, but only with a suitable speaker(high efficiency and easier load characteristics). Your present amplifier is the much better choice. Charles
Why dont you toe in your speakers? It would make your upper octaves really shine and make you upper and lower midrange sound less confused and or congested and will definatly help in imaging. You should experiment with toeing it has made many systems go from good to exceptional. Just a suggestion.
