Hi Peterayer y.s: >>Have you tried spikes or any other that stock support for your SME 10?<<
The SME-10 stock support uses some form of 1/2 squishy sticky squash balls. I does not strike me as a good idea to go for a 'hard' spiked support since there is practically no plinth with that tt. (Still it is quite heavy, as EVERTHING is machined from solid Aircraft-Aluminium and either anodised or chromed)
Halcro: yes the roller-brush fits ALL Hannl models. I have been in contact with Hannl about you not finding the info on his web-site. He told me, he will attend to the matter. (His English is a bit of an issue, he uses a translator)
Congratulations Axel. Thanks for posting some pictures. As you know, I'm an SME and Pass Labs fan. I like your tt wall shelf and rack. Beautiful work. I'm not familiar with your speakers, but I've enjoyed reading your many analog posts. Have you tried spikes or any other that stock support for your SME 10?
Very nice system Axel. Congratulations. How does the Mera rollerbrush work and does it fit all models of the Hannl machine as I have the one from TW Acustic?
Hi Sdrenslow, yes, I guess it's about time for some pics. But I do a need a friends digital camera first though.
Also, all my components are stock, but for the rack, tt shelf, and then the room...
I started with a SME 309 arm and then had some issues, which made me decide ton go for a V arm. It is better, if it is better value for $$$ is on another page though.
My tt uses a wall mounted shelf, the design I pinched from an Image HiFi presentation which seemed to work for me. It is made of hard-wood 1/4" block veneer, 22mm MDF, same veneer on top and a 30mm granite slab on top, should give you some idea. Component rack is similar only 2" thick all round with 1/8" hardwood veneer and on spikes.
Since I also make/made solid-wood furniture it was not too difficult for me to make, as I have all the tools.
How about some pictures of your system? I, too, have the SME10 and am quite pleased with it. Did you start with the SME V tonearm or did you upgrade from the Model 10 arm? What kind of stand/support are you using for your turntable?
