Here it is, my system thus far. To upgrade from here would take insurmountable funds that my college limit just can't obtain. Some day I hope to touch the musical clarity and utopia others have realized, but for now this will do. Please let me know what you think as any advice is appreciated.
Rebuilt housing in zebra wood, aside from that they are stock with horns and all.

Western Electric 1950's modified
This is a modified 1950's amplifier from Western Electric. Originally a triode amp the tubes are converted to pentodes, which are a much better match for the vintage hand-spun transformers. All point to point wiring has been hand done. transformers alone cost me 2000, amp is valued at 4500. Puts out 9 watts, with a huge amount of

Just bought this bad boy and let me say that it pairs very nicely with an all tube set up. Very musical, extremely transparent, and the tubes....glowing just right.
I did move the speakers to stands, five inch bed risers on all corners with a tennis ball under the speaker to dampen the vibrations. Instant effect on the sound. No long is it muffled by the carpet and they are now at ear level which drastically improved the imaging and sound stage. Great recommendation, much appreciated Loose!
Thanks for the compliments first off! I have not tried Grado's though I wish I could. The 701's sound just about right to me, didn't really care for the hd 650's. I'll have to take another pick now as I moved apartments and have the system set up much differently now. I'm trying to find a dac that matches well with my existing components if anyone has any suggestions... been looking at MHDT, MSB, Audio GD
First, that little workstation looks wicked. Have you tried Grado headphones with your system? I'd bet a nice pair of 325i's would sound great (they sound very different than the 701's... much different aural perspective.
Do you have those speakers on the floor? Have you tried them on stands?
