Oilman- Your comment: "good is just not good enough" reminds me of one of my favorite Matraca Berg songs: "One more is too much, Too much is never enough"
That Artisan phono stage is quite a little piece, isn't it? I think it's is the flip side of that thought, equipment-wise. Compact, sleek, simple. No knobs, no tubes to roll, no adjustments except for mc/mm. Sometimes I wish I'd never sold mine.
System edited: Recent additions in my quest. ZYX artisan phono preamp, ZYX universe cartidge and soon to be online, a tweaked Ariadne signature table by Maplenoll. perfect table for me. Pics to come soon
Your Eminent Tech. setup is one beautiful piece of precision engineering: Congrats!
By the way, thank you for taking the time to provide informative advice on my thread inquiring about the ET air-bearing setup with our Well-Tempered Classic.
System edited: added two pics of trial dampening system. I moved the stock trough to place directly under the air spindle and use a tapered pin connected to the arm tube clamp. Easy mod to make
Koegz: I have drooled over the walker website and various reviews. I have followed your thread on your purchase. It is my dream to own one. I truely believe the maplenoll was the inspiration for the walker table as lloyd was a distributor and you find many of the features remarkably similar. I also plaguerized many of the concepts on his table to come up with my design upgrade on the maplenoll. I have since added the dampening trough right below the arm spindle in a similar fashion. I am still tweaking this but it is an improvement in that it does not swing over the record any more. Thanks for the kind words. How does your walker sound! I am jealous:)
Excellent work! Must say that you've taken the table to the next level. I have an older Athena that I will begin to modify this upcoming spring. I only have the 10 lbs. platter and would like to upsize it along with a longer spindle. Maybe a new plinth? The carbon fiber arm wand is very intriguing!
go to www.walkeraudio.com/ check out the precidum turntable. yours looks like a very, very early version. i own the walker, fantastic table. everything runs on air, arm, platter and base support.
