Now they have a new Model. They are supposed to be better. Hell these CS2's still kick the other speakers I've had and they are 1/6 the price of my old speakers.
System is cheaper yet sounds 100% better, go figure.
What can one say.replaced the Wilson ActII's.At 1/5 the price. These don't look as nice but the sound is very accurate .
Wyred4sound Custom
Stereo Mono Blocks 250watts and 125 watts for each side to run the Emerald. Pretty nice, powerful and uses little power.Smoothest amp and tonally correct.
Nueance Platform
The platforms are custom made for your components and this one is a perfect match for the Capitole. As with all tweaks your mileage may vary but I had tried many.Up to $1,200
Z-Squared 8 outlet
internally wired in gold
Nirvana S-X , xlr
Expensive but rarely see them for sale used. Now I know why.
SRA - Isolation Platform VR 3.0
Isolation Platform for the Amp.
Fusion Audio Enchanter
Nice ribbon conductor design similar but with much more conductors,so will drive large amps.
Fusion Audio Power Cord Impulse
Complements the Enchanter. Nicest cord on the Prestige.
Dough, No I was repairing a friends Audio Aero for him - had to rebuild the power supply completely and also install a new 5Vdc module - luckily a off the shelf from Mouser worked just fine in place of the Chinfa cost was about $ 20
System edited: Getting old enough to stop with the changes. I promise I'll stop when I don't find anything that blows my mind . Then I just got to have it money permitting.
System edited: I really like the new set up with the Ephiphany X2 in the cdp and the Acrolink in the amp.Last change lasted about 8 months and thats about the limit for a cable junky.
System edited: The Nirvana cabling is awesome. Finally got it right, and my banker agrees. Those Purist Audio cables nearly got me single again so with the Nirvana, I was really on thin ice. The SRA platform is a nice addition, a bit pricey for the results , but hey it looks real nice. Time to hunker down and do some relaxing.Okay everybody out of the house for a week or two. Thanks to all for helping me out.
I tried a Michael Wolffe Source P/C on my Prima CDP coupled with Z Squared AU/AU Top Line I/C's, they helped . The sound became a little more open and airy . These are rather cheap as cables go , especially on the used market .
Sherod,Thanks,Simple as you can get.Sounds so convincingly real.Even in the next room it is very compelling. Anyways the Dominus is the Ferox Version. Works so well on the amp I am not inclined to use it on the cdp.It does so much for the amp that when I switch the cables around I lose so much from the amp that I can't really compare.I would have to save up to get one for the cdp.At Stanton Sound they told me that it works better on amps.So I am not sure what to try for the cdp. I am sure there are better cords just tired of trying and buying and reselling. I have had many well regarded power cables, just can't find one better in my system .... yet!! Peter
Hey Peter,Thanks for the kind words and tip on the sub! Im enjoying music more than i have in a long time! The Caravelles did the trick for me.Hope to get new pics up soon!Sounds like you have great synergy with the Audio Aero combo and the ACTIIs!A lot of those great recordings from the 50s just seem to have that special something that most modern recordings lack,,go figure!Peace,Ray
Ray, The Capitole cdp has both balanced and rca outputs. I use xlr into the amp and rca to the sub.Work perfectly and the sub is the niciest I have heard and the eaisest to integrate. Course most subs have both rca,and speaker line inputs. I prefer not worrying about 'what if's'and 'what happened'when hooking up to the output of amps, especially tube amps. In your case run a pair out of the line outs from your pre. Easiest way to tune it to your system,is to play a familiar tune ,sit on your sub, feel it and adjust the crossover and then the amplitude ,starting out with mid to low volume. You'll feel it when you get it right.
I was checking out your great system.I have heard that the Caravelles are stunning.A suitable sub will add the impact and breadth to the total sound picture. I see you also wonder how a 1950's recording can whip the crap out of about 50% of what is recorded today.Isn't it like "Whip'em up, round'em up,ship'em out ,Rawhide". Cheers,Peter
Really nice system!I have Purist Museaus cables that im very happy with,,one day ill upgrade to Venustus or Opis.Im getting a sub soon, just wondering if you are connecting yours to your amp? Any suggestions on properly integrating a sub into a 2 ch system? Ray
System edited: Final cable changes settling in now. Still using a Harmonic Tech Pro AC11 into the Capitole. Hard to believe that such an inexpensive cord works so well.Have tried others in its place just keep coming back to that Harmonic Tech. Go figure.
System edited: Well, I knew I was missing something. After following some fellow members I figured this was the next move. I have had many familiar and famous cables in my system. These Purist Audio cords seem to work the best. No colorations that I can detect. Natural sounding, tonally right in my system. The Dominus power cord is one piece of wire. Can't explain it, there is air between the performers and the microphone, like we all know the sound travels a bit before it gets to the microphone but I can sense this and it all adds up to more realism. Does that sound weird.Am I off base?. I really wanted 'One Cord to Rule them All'.'Cause I am tired of changing them. This just may be the one,so I can be happy and my wife ....the buyer also. Thanks to all for forum inputs, that help to make this joy of music even better.
I had the S-X at home with the MKI and the Sim W-5. Couldn't justify the cost at that time. Could be just the ticket now though. I'll get Globe to send me a broke in set of ic's.Globe has been using Nirvana for a very long time. Costs like a component though, ouch! Hmmm ,X-mas is coming, Thanks,Peter D.
Talk to Steve Creamer at Nirvana, or Jody/Matt at Globe. I still haven't heard any cabling that would compel me to switch out my Nirvana, especially the S-X on my Capitole. I'll be interested to see what route you go.
Ozzy, Thanks,Mapleshade also offer a nice line of cables also. I'll look into a stand from them.I have had the Neuance for a few years now,it still does the trick. I have heard of the Luminous cabling.Their prices are pretty reasonable and I like the copper sound.I have tried silver cabling, but not to my liking.I'll check Luminous a little further. Peter D.
Nice system. You could look at a Mapleshade Samson for something that's nice and inexpensive. Luminous Audio Technology gets my nod for cables. I see that you already have a Neuance shelf, a worthwhile upgrade for sure.
System edited: I finally have first class components. Now for some first class cabling.I have used many, many cables with the older gear but I sold them and don't have any to experiment with.Any suggestions?
