Description

My intention is to build a simple office system using my 30+ year-old Yamaha integrated amp (and, perhaps, my 30+ year-old Bang & Olufsen Beogram 3000 turntable).

The Yamaha has been boxed up for ~20 years (except for the occasional un-boxing and warm-up every couple of years). I purchased this very special (to me) component when I began graduate school, and continued to enjoy it until I completed my terminal degree and began assembling my main system.

The volume, left-right, and loudness controls on my Yamaha are a bit staticky now, so I will have to have these professionally cleaned. (This was done once before, c. 1991.) Otherwise, this amp continues to sound delightful.

I recently (Feb 2012) purchased a pair of Huw Powell's Model 61 Human Speakers to serve as the voice of my office system. They are not yet broken-in, but I have spent time the past several evenings being absolutely delighted by them, listening at lowish volumes through my main system.

My hope is to set up a digital music server, perhaps using a Apple Macintosh Mac Mini, to serve as this office system's front end--although I also would be completely delighted to again be able to play my Beogram through my Yamaha. Alas, this turntable hasn't fared well in storage; I hope to send it away soon to learn whether it can be resurrected. (My Beogram I purchased while an undergraduate student, several years before I purchased my Yamaha.)

Also, an FM tuner would be nice ...

Stay Tuned,
