this my second system, mainly for listening to the radio and watch movies. I am a vintage hifi passionate, so i didn't make any compromise in selecting my equipement. I searched long and hard for this sony pair especially whit the wood cases. They really are my favorite of all the vintage. Then after came all the work of rebuilding them...The furniture was built especialy to fit them. The yamaha speakers are a long time favorite of mine,i fine tuned them for my room. Their great for so many things; classical, jazz, movies, rock and partys,of course i dont plan to ad any subwoofer... Thanks for looking, feel free to leave any comments. Jd

thank's Onemug for the nice words, you would be surprised how modern those Yamaha's can sound, their fast, open and they dont compress when things get busy and loud. I like your idea of a Marantz-Altec system, i would like to ear it Jd
Love your taste. Those Sonys exude class in their cases. I have a hunch I'd prefer watching a movie on your system compared to some of my friends X.1 systems.
I did a similar thing in our guest bedroom. I am using a pair of Altec Valencia's and a vintage Marantz receiver for a simple 2 ch audio system (the TV was on its own). Hooked up the DVR's audio out to the Marantz's aux in and BINGO, audio/video. Added bonus was that our cable TV has music channels and since the DVR is always on, I somethimes don't use the TV and just listen to the music commercial free.
On the visual side, The Valencia's are in walnut and I have the Marantz in its walnut case. Enjoy.
i love them to,,,you know something funny? the gentlemen who sold me the tuner,he send it to me in is original box! talk about one extraordinary careful owner,,
