I am looking to start a system in my bedroom. This is the system I intend to start thus far. I am looking for some suggestions, mainly speakers ($1000-$2500). There are very few high-end audio shops in my area, so I am working off reviews/comments. I am looking for a speaker with excellent midrange/high-end; I listen primilialy to music with female vocals. I also listen to some rock music once in a while, so I am looking for something that can handle different music genres. Bass response doesn't matter, and size does, so I figured a monitor would be best. I read good things about JMlabs, Sonus Faber, Ohm Acoutics, and B&W. I love the sound of Mission. Are there any higher priced speakers with similiar sound? What do you recommend? Please no cable suggestions!
Thanks for the Antique Sound Lab recommendation. Their equipment is very reasonable in price, and simple in design. As a physicist I was very impressed by their design. I've thrown out the Creek idea and replaced it with the Wave 1, (2) Wave AV-8h, and (2) Wave AV-8 combo.
Once you add a stand, a monitor often takes up the same amount of space as many floor standers. I've been giddy with my Green Mountain Audio 1.5 speakers. I've also heard good things about their monitor (Europa?). I liked Dynaudio, though I have not heard the 1.3SE (which is supposed to be real good). Keep in mind that Dynaudio's like power.
I've been using a combination of Dynaudio Contour 1.3 se monitor speakers with the Air Tight tube amps. I also primarily listen to female vocals and found this combination suited my taste. If your looking at Jolida you may also want to check out Antique Sound Lab. ASL has some very nice tube equipment.
