Description

This is my B-system, for my home office. My goal is to assemble a system primarily from vintage components from the year I was born (1960). So far I have a Thorens TD-124 mkI turntable and a Fisher 600 receiver.

I could not find a CD player from 1960, so I went with a Rega Apollo since it sounds very warm and analog (like the rest of the system).

Space constraints forced me to go with bookshelf speakers, but I was lucky to get my hands on a pair of Tannoy Autograph Mini.

This is my "B" system and it cost a fraction than my main system, but I love the way it sounds. I listen to it whenever I get a chance.

Thanks.

14ga OFC wires for the speakers and $20 interconnects - nothing fancy. Does not make much sense considering the age of the components.

I bought it because it was made the year I was born. I wasn't even sure it would work since it came with a cracked tube and did not look too promising. After some clean-up and re-tubing, it turned on and started playing beautifully.

I am still blown-away by how nice it sounds. I am listening to it as we speak. I could be downstairs on the main system, but there's something about these vintage components that's very addictive.

The main system changes quite a bit as I tweak, add, remove, components.

Right now I have a Thorens TD-124 with SME II (unimproved) on a gorgeous rosewood plinth, a PrimaLuna Prologue One, and a pair of Quad 22Ls.
