Incredible clear sound .......... need I say more?
I was originally going for Home Theatre. Started out to purchase Def Tech ST and Bryston 9B-SST with Surround Processor when I demoed the B&W 804s and ended up going back to 2 channel stereo instead.
Can't beat the sound.
Eventually I want to update the preamp to a Bryston BP26 and their new BDA.
For now I have to get back to the project that started it off ........ painting the room and having the floors refinished.
Ultimately the equipment will end up at the other end of the room. TV will end up on a Sofa Table I have already picked out with the amp on the shelf below it, flanked by the speakers. Everything else will be in a cabinet at the other end of the room.
Room has been painted, sofa table is ordered and I am awaiting BP26 preamp.
Updated pictures to be added soon.
One thing is for certain, OK two things, the system will always have Bryston and B&W in it.
BP-26 preamp has arrived. Bass response increased, overall sound stage and clarity is imporved as well.
Sofa table has arrived, I am awaiting 15m balanced interconnects to move equipment, floors need to be refinished but progress is being made.
I have posted some new pictures but need to take more. Busy summer so far!
This is regards of the face plate change over, if you still have the old black one with the knobs BP26 would be interested in buying them, I know it's a shot in the dark!!!
Rack came from Best Buy. Spent time looking all over the place for something to hold the TV and six pieces of equipment as a temporary solution. Rack was only $300ish and is made surprisingly well. Rack will end up going to my brother so he can use it in the basement for his kids. I do not remember the brand.
I have noticed a difference in the BCD1 which is connected to the preamp with balanced interconnects but not the preamp to amp connection. CD player levels are higher and clearer with balanced interconnects.
Another great example of neat and tidy. I too have always been a fan of Bryston, listened to the BCD-1 the other day at my favorite local shop. On my short list. I noticed you running balanced XLRs to the amp, do you hear the difference?
Hello Smerlas, Very nice system. I at one time, I ordered a pair of 804's, to replace my aging DM 620's, which were great speakers. I demoed the 804's against the 803's, and even the vaunted 802's. I actually preferred the overall balance of the 804's over the other, more expensive B&W's. By then, however, I had fallen in love with Dynaudio's, and picked up a demo pair of Contour S 5.4's, which will probably remain in my system until I depart for greener pastures, (or whatever the beyond holds for me). I still have a soft spot in my heart for B&W, though, and know how good they sound. I certainly like the looks of the Bryston components, although I've never been able to see them in the flesh, so to speak. I'd like to be able to see and hear them sometime. Congratulations on a very nice system, nice, clean look to it, and sound to match, I'm sure.
Really nice gear - I bet it does sound absolutely fantastic. However, I'd humbly suggest that you investigate some acoustic treatment next. You might be getting the best sound possible but then again you may be only getting 50% of the potential of your gear. (The room looks fairly reflective)
System edited: Like it says ........... Done for now ...... now being a very definable time in space which has come and gone. Torus power conditioner, 14BSST or a pair of 7BSSTs and B&W 803d could be on the map as future upgrades.
System edited: Just added the Byston CD player and switched out speaker wires. Next on the list is the preamp upgrade. Done for now?!, yeah well as done as one can be.
