I stumbled across your system and it strikes me you are a very discerning audiophile as all your equipment so well thought out. I've all those components, and own a few, separately and they are all amazing. I've a lot of respect for this system.
If I am not mistaken you used to drive the Duos with and Accuphase E-550 integrated. Could you please tell me why did you change the E-550 amp? Also, how do the Avantgarde speakers play music at low volume. Is it necessary to crack them loud so they come alive? What are the weak and strong points of an Accuphase-Avantgarde combination.
I am asking because recently, I have auditioned at a dealer the Avantgarde Unos driven by the E-560 integrated (the successor of E-550) and the combination was marvelous. Currently, I have an Accuphase combo (the E-550 integrated and the DP-500 cd player) driving a pair of Focal Micro Utopia Be augmented with a REL Stentor 3 subwoofer. I have no desire to get rid of my Focal speakers. However, the Avantgarde-Accuphase combo in the dealer's room was so great that now I am seriously thinking to add a second pair of speakers to my system, i.e. either the Unos or the Duos.
What is the tube amp in the picture? Do you use that for bi-amping or is the Rowlnd just being used as a pre-amp?
I also have a pair of Glenair's, and I am using a Classe DR-3 twenty five watt solid state class A amp with them. It has enough juice to get the wine glasses on the table moving, so I can only imagine what 250 high quality watts would do with those speakers!
