Had a system posted a while back, but many changes have made me start over. I have just gotten into vinyl as my wife (who would of thought) bought me the Pro-Ject 1-Expression turntable for Xmas.
I am looking for the next upgrade. Not sure where to go next, so any and all comments and suggestions would be welcome. I will post pics later.
I second the motion for a very good tubed integrated and nominate the Manley Stingray. Then replace the cdp/dac with a Blue Note Koala ($2k-new) or possibly the "near-vinyl sounding," non-oversampling dac'd Consonance CD 120 Linear. Wow, great choice on your wife's part with the turntable! --A truly great start, though! Cheers mate.
Definitely the weak link is the amplifier, closely followed by your source components. I would strongly suggest a good tube amp to start, maybe even a very good integrated and ditch the Audcom tube pre at the same time. Next of course, would be a better cdp, then the sky is the limit on your vinyl front end.
i just tried out a low-end PS Audio power cable and was blown away by the performance. It went from my wall to my UPC200HB. I still have "stock" cables to my reciever and player. I wasnt expecting such a huge boost in performane but i was amazed!! That session persuaded me to buy three power cables that should be here in a couple of weeks. If you dont have aftermarket power cables i would say try that out. You wont be disappointed. Justin
