Thanks Ozzy62, I "REALLY" wish I could move them to a dedicated room and make the proper placement away from the walls but I have the wife factor to deal with so I am stuck. I have heard what the big maggie can do in other systems in the right room and placement but for right now I am limited to where they sit. Maybe in the future I can get my own "play" room in the house...Thanks for the advise...You have a very nice system also! How do you like the luminious speaker cables? I have never heard of them before.
System edited: Made changes to the speaker cables now with Nordost Blue heaven II bi-wire and upgraded the CD player to Proceed PCD 2. A major step forward in sound clarity and sounstaging.
Thanks Ken for your words of wisdom. I would like to buy a PLC and you have pointed me in the right direction. As for the VK2's is there a web site to view these babies? Thanks again for your advice....
Once again, very nice system. As for Power Line Conditioners(PLC's). There are sooooo many to choose from. The flexability of multiple outlets and surge protection are the main benefits of course. But, a lot of PLC's do more sonic harm than good. The better ones isolate the outlets from eachother and dont add any phase shift inherently. MIT, Shunyata, ChangLightspeed are some that come to mind that are recommended. I personally have used the Monster Series, but have gone to ones made by Virtual Mode.( www.virmode.com) recently and think they are quite good.
BTW... The VonSchweikert VR2's are a Dynamic floorstander with bass response to 25hz. and Electrostatic like mids and highs. A modest speaker at real world prices that really serve the music well.
To answer your question(Kehut and Sgr) about if I have a current line conditoner with my system? No, but I am hoping in the future to purchase one. I have no idea what I am looking for. Do you or anyone have any good brands or models which are good?
Hello again, I had a error in posting my system. I will correct it before the next posting. I currently have the 2.6 Maggies and loooking to move up to the 3.5 for more bass extension. The 2.6 are very accurate(soundstage)but bass is very light. I also have a pair of IIB Maggies(non-working in my attic)the bass was much better than the 2.6 but a smaller soundstage. The Mit speaker cables made a big difference in imaging over an older pair of Monster M1's. The instruments are more defined and tend to hang in the air. I am a very BIG fan of MIT products as they offer alot of performance for reasonable amount of money "IF" you can find them used! I have never heard of the VonSchweikert. are they Cones? or panels?
Hi Music Lovers...Music Only here! Congrats on a very fine system. I have owned various Maggies, most recently 3.3R. The 3.5's are nice. I too am a big MIT guy and have similar set up in cables..Big Gray boxes and CVT's abound and although some find them sightly and question the science involved..there's no denying the magical sound of these cables. . What PC's are you using on your equip, and any Line conditioning? Echo Sgr's querry about what speaker you would replace the 3.5's with. For me...The VonSchweikert VR2 is mighty fine! Thanks!
This should be a great system. I've heard the Magnepans and Levinson gear, (I've owned both and the brick). You've got a great system. What would you replace the speakers with?
