Description

This is my system, a definite work in progress. I'm trying to build the best system I can on a budget. I'm still trying out various amps and preamps, which is why I have a lot of redundancy at the moment. Any opinions or thoughts on what to use with what would be greatly appreciated!

    • Nakamichi CDC-3a
Good old 6 Disk CD Changer w/ swappable single tray. Still sounds great after all these years!
    • Meridian 508.20
This is my baby! The best CD player I've heard to date. I'm sure better is out there, but since I can't afford it I probably shouldn't find out!
    • Bryston BP-25
Brand new to me. I'm trying out pre-amps in my system.
    • GAS Thoebe
A funky shaped item with many features. I've heard good and bad about this pre-amp. To me it sounds a bit bright, but I've only compared it to the Rotel in my system so perhaps it's just more transparent.
    • Rotel RC-970bx
This is my original preamp. Still sounds pretty good to me.
    • Sumo Nine plus
This is an amazing class A amp for the price. The only downside is the noisy fan.
    • B&K Components ST-2140
To me this is an amazing amp for the money. Amazngly wide soundstage.
    • Meridian Meridian A-500
These are flat-out the nicest speakers I've listened to at an affordable price.
    • Monster ?
Using older blue monster interconnects from the early 90's. Don't know too much about them.
    • Sumo Aurora
Tuner works great but memory seems to clear out every night. Don't know what is going on.
    • Nakamichi CassetteDeck 1
My first piece of "high end" audio and still a favorite.
    • Belles A
70 Watt Per Channel Pure Class A
    • Kef XQ1
Designed with three way bass reflex, the XQ1 offers compact size with big sound. The Uni-Q drive unit's inherent wide dispersion characteristics makes any normal room an expansive soundscape. Magnetically shielded, it's equally at ease on the shelf or the dedicated stand.
