6/05 - I have been interested in this hobby since high school. When I started my system it consisted of a Harmon Kardon receiver, a Sony CD player and a set of bookshelf speakers. My first upgrade was a pair of interconnects that made such a noticable difference and was ultimately the cause of my addiction to the hobby.
20 years later, and here I am.
Although a modest system compared to many here at Audiogon, I am extremely please with the system's performance in 2 channel stereo and with it's multi channel and surround sound presentation. The detail and dimension from the Revels is amazing!
Our latest addition is a Mitsubishi HC-2000 projecting on a 92" screen.
Boelen Upgraded Processor 1) Upgraded the bridge rectifier diodes with the latest Ultra Soft "Stealth" diodes. 2) Upgraded the main caps in the DAC section with premium Blackgate caps. 3) Installed analog output filters at the connectors on the back panel (these analog mods reduce the overall high frequency noise levels by 70% and over 90% reduction in the 1 Ghz and higher range) 4) Installed Audio DNA's circuits on Left and right main channels.

Douglas, I am very fortunate to have a wife as understanding and who enjoys watching a good movie as much as I do. I can actually thank her for the latest addition to the theater (the Mitsubishi projector) The story goes I had asked her to pick up a $13 tube for my CAL dac at the local dealer that I have done business with since the 80s. I told her to check out the projector while she was there (ya know just to show her ;-}). Within 5 minutes of her departing the store with my $13 tube, I received a cell phone call from my wonderfully excited wife We hafta get that! and the rest is history!
My obligation remains to teach her to use the system in my absence
Regarding your comments about Xbox...Although I own Halo 2, I'm relegated to playing simple racing games and Lego Star Wars as I neither have the patients nor the dexterity to play the games that require 8 fingers per hand to manipulate the controls ;-}
Max, seems like you've followed roughly same trajectory as me. About 23ish years into the hobby. Just finished building my HT about six months ago. An unexpected dream come true. Consistently good fiscal decisions in life can compound and eventually yield an audio system that is remarkable. Of course, your master stoke of genius is the Xbox! Makes all the effort worth it - gobs of fun! Currently, I'm stuck in a section of Halo 2. I rant and rave against it, but I keep going back... Video games with 5.1 surround and projection, WOW, what fun! That's become one of the main joys of the big setup. I used to have a Cal Audio DAC Sigma II and later an Alpha. Cal Audio makes good sounding equipment. Are any of your family members allowed to venture beyond the listening chair? :)
