I took some of your sugestions for upgrades, I moved the center chanel to the floor and added more power to the front speakers. Now have a much better 2 chanel sound and better sound from the center chanel. Thanks for the ideas.
Looks great- its like the big brother version of mine... I am hoping to move up to 800 series soon. Also had the B&K 307 up until last week- nice stuff.
Contact "Muralman". He lives in Mid-town Sac. How deep into Roseville do you live? I know someone(in Roseville) who just sold his Eidolon/Spectral/Wadia system for an HT with a 123" screen.
i would also invest in a set of sound anchor stands for the 803's. i have had these speakers and getting them up helps open the midrange as well as improving the bass. the speakers at a higher height will improve the soundstaging. this is the first thing i would do so you would get a better understanding of how your equipment sounds. moving the center channel down is also a great improvement as well. solid state amps work better with b&w speakers.
Hi - Like your set up,I would move your Center to the Nice Floor stand B&W makes, that is Angled up. I have my Center like that,It makes a big Diff. A fuller,Clearer sound with Reduced Reflections due to not being ontop of the TV!! Also Agree, move up to a large 3 or 5 ch amp,you could use the b&k as a Processer!!! Take Care, Greg
I ran my 803's for while with an adcom 5802 which sounded pretty good, and then splurged on some krell FPB 350mc (same chassis as current 450mcx, but biased differently) but I concur with the other two posters, those speakers would enjoy a solid amp. Obviously upgrading and testing out any new product is likely to bring better sound from your system, but there is more equity in upgrading your amps, just my 2c
I agree with Bw_4_all, if you really want to let those 803s shine you should throw in some better power (more and cleaner). There are thousand choices...maybe the Parasound Halo JC-1 monos? If you can find some old aragon amps those would match well too.
I think your off to a great start. However, I would suggest considering a new amp to be highest priority. The 803's are power hungry and they will "wake up" alot if you get an amp with a little more current. Personally I would recomend investing in a stereo or monoblock amp for the 803's. At any rate your money may be better spent on new amps, as opposed to a new source.
