On several fronts, this theater room (living space doing double duty) needs some corrections. First, the white ceiling and light floor with the white projection screen is a total wash out of the image! (gray, flat image, lacking dynamics and punch ..black level is poo). If you're going to have light colored walls all around the room, plus what I just mentioned above, this system NEEDS A LIGHT REJECTION SCREEN! (i.e Black Diamond, Polar/Darkstar, or BARE MINIMUM -Firehawk!) Otherwise, you need dark walls, surroundings, etc. All that and speakers placed/aimed wrong -away from seating locations- no room acoustics treatment considerations (can hide lots behind room dividers with screen material, etc), couch against wall for nice boomy sound there, yada yada., plus were looking at speakers and gear stuck in the room plus curtains. (not as bad as just bar wall setup, but needs adjustments!) A white screen and white ceiling?!!! ...YYYEEEIIIIKES!
joe- thank you for your comments, there are a few things I would like to change, the rack may be repaced by an industrial rack on rollers so I can get to the back to swap new silver cable sin/out. I wils I would have put the main int amp in the front so I could have run 10ft hi end cables to my mains, but for the total money out it is great. Have you had any experience with modified gear? My audio buddy mod'd his NAD S500 CD thru reference audio mods and it is unbelievable, blows away anything under 15K, I'm thinking of mod'ng my308CD. Any comments?
Nicely done! For the money, it looks fantastic and I bet sounds great as well. I especially like the built in rack... very upscale. The lighting appears to have been well thought out and tastefully done. Excellent choice for 3500.00 on the projector and 1k for the screen.. much nicer than a 4500.00 entry level 42 inch plasma or some big goofy projection tv. Great processor! Nice amps and other gear. I bet your friends and family are quite impressed!! Happy listening, Joe Custom Audio LLC
