I bought all this when I worked at Ultimate Electronics. I got it on the cheep which was nice. I am in college and live in a basement, so not something too big that would deffinetally get stolen from an apartment but enough to enjoy my movies and music. I will eventually get the new Pioneer Elite DVD player and possible a blue ray/HD DVD palyer depending on which technology is more popular. Will have a PS3 in the system cause the PS2 is taking a dive after 5 years (please hold on until the PS3 comes out). Besides that I will eventually add the 6th and 7th channel to complete a whole 7.1 system with the KEF XQ3's. But that's when I get the space for it. Besides that I'm pretty happy.
Has enough power to make the speakers sound good. Don't really have the need for a separate system at this time.
Kef XQ5 Graphite
Really high quality sound for the pirce point
Kef XQ2c Graphite
Went with the XQ5's.
KEF XQ1 Graphite
COmpletes the set.
Monster Cable THX and video 3 series
Use all THX component cables. Video 3 s-video for the computer. I-Link for the DVD to reciever for sound, the rest is THX optical/digital coax.
Monster Cable Z Series
Z series bi-wire for the front, and Z series for the center, and rears. Monster Cable 300 series for the sub cable.
Monster Cable 7000 SS
Monster Cable's top of the line power filter. Signature series with the blue LED's.
Bello AT-something
The first audio rack that would go with the system look wise and could hold up everything.
Definitive Technology Supercube 1
Have a large open space so the Supercube sounded the best for the application. It is currently sitting behind my theater seats which makes it fantastic.
Im happy with my Project Debut III. But i would recommend saving for a nicer unit. I bought this table to see if i really wanted to start getting into vinyl. I am now a junkie and am counting the days until i buy a better tt. Vinyl sounds so "right" to me that i have only bought 1 new cd since i got the table, but countless records. If thats all you can spend im sure you will be happy but stretch the budget if you can.
pmc- Well, for some, the fun starts when you're in college and ends when you get out. The nice part about college (for some) is having parents pay all the bills and everything the students earn is disposable income. Upon graduation, all the bills pour in and there isn't enough money left over for stereo equipment. Reality can bite. Maybe after a couple of job changes I will be able to spend like I spent while in college:).
I'm looking for a turntable to add the the system. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good quality and sounding turntable that doesn't cost a ton of money. I recieved some records from my father but have no turntable to play them on. Once again remember I'm a college kid and don't have a lot of money to spend. I am looking to spend around $200-$300.
