After a twenty plus years hiatus I'm back. Despite the fact I must wear hearing aids I'm amazed at what I'm able to hear. The many tweaks I've found online have taken my humble system from a rather dull sounding system to a level I never expected.
Vibrapods and bamboo cutting board under the Oppo 980 CDP added extended decay and more shimmer. Self stick dense sheet foam, for the interior and bottom of the Oppo CDP. Weights on the top of the Oppo, reduces female vocal harshness. Herbie's Black Hole and SID CD/DVD matt and Zerostat gun. Teflon tape wrapped around PC tangs. Bamboo cutting boards placed under speakers; improved bass, tighter and deeper. And my neighbor appreciates it. And a baggie of mixed minerals and crystals. These are sitting on my hospital grade Trip Lite power outlet. Crystals at power panel, on ic's connectors, ac ends and speaker connections. Just installed EVS Ground Enhancers; they really cleaned up the sound.
Emotiva CMX-6 Power Distribution System
Power Distribution System. Six very quite outlets. More good sound.
Thanks Glenfihi. Yep, that old RCA Victor radio was my source of entertainment when I was a wee boy (I'm now 67 years young). Saturday evenings found me and my mom and sister listening to the The Shadow, The FBI in Peace and War and many others. I still listen a little on internet radio. And yes is still works.
Enjoyed seeing the pictures and reading comments on your system. Is that a vintage radio on the top of your rack, and does it still work? Happy listening.
System edited: I'm constantly visiting many audio forums and reading and learning and then experimenting with various tweeks. One of the most recent experiments was making my own simple Ground Controls from scrap speaker wire. They made a immediate and positive difference. Cleaner sound, thus more music. WOW! All of the tweaks I've applied have contributed to taking a dull sounding and inexpensive system to a level the average person would never know. I'm now ready to move to the next level when the money comes in.
Thanks for the kind comments! It took a few days to tweak the Oppo so it doesn't sound so glassy in the higher frequencies. The Pangia PC and HDMI are the final tweaks. Now I'll listen to some music instead of the equipment. By the way I like your system. Tell me about the rack. I like the casters, makes it easy to pull out and change cables, etc. I've got furniture movers under mine.
