Basic HT set up on a budget. Going back to college to pursue dentistry. Needless to say it will be sometime before I can upgrade : ) However, have got the wife to agree to look for some used speakers to hook up to the second zone on my NAD and use them in our downstairs family room which opens up to the kitchen. Family room is 18 x 20 and opens up to a 300 sq ft kitchen with 9 ft tall ceilings and large windows along the side. Any speaker suggestions, tweaks are most welcome. Trying to stay in the $3-500 range.
I recently bought a Shunyata somethingorother from music direct for $150, which is 50% off retial. It seems to be pretty good. Not the most mellow cord though, but fun...
Right on Dave. It's nice thing when the ladies take an active interest and, arguably, this hobby sort of encourages it, since it's all about critical listening or dancing or chilling or whatever it is you wanna do to music...
I have a PS Statement on my amp (directly into the wall) and find that it really puts in a nice low end. Can you try something like that into the NAD ?
Decided to go with a seperate 2 channel system downstairs. When I calculated the cost of 200 ft of decent cable and running in through a few walls, yeah, seperate system might work better. Plus, a good excuse for a seperate syetem. Plus, my wife is on board which is nice. I took her to a local hi end store here in Raleigh and she was even interested in the stuff there. Gosh, I love here even more now. JK. Just happy she can appreciate my new hobby. Some guys hunt, fish, golf but I rather hang out with my friends, wife or dogs and listen to some good music with my favorite adult beverage and just CHILL.
I tried to get the center channel under the TV and have it tilted but it doesn't fit:( I have had these speakers for about 8-9 yrs but kind of like them for my HT set up. I'm sure I could get a better speaker set up but not looking to shell out cash yet. Maybe I will wait until I'm a dentist. : )
Nice set up.Less is more works for me.If I may make a suggestion, try and get your center channel speaker down to the same level as you fronts.Just a thought.Enjoy the music.
