I would like to focus on 2ch music going forward. This system handles all the surround sound I need. I listened to some Magenpan 1.6's at the local audio shop and was really impressed. However in my current house I am limited by room size, a 4 year old boy, and a Brittany Spaniel puppy. I think my next upgrade should be a nice CD transport. Maybe a used Rega Planet or the like. Opinions?
Hi Coolbean(and Artk), very nice setup. May I know if you have compared the Atoms to the Mini Monitors? The Mini Monitors are in between the Atoms and Titans. Since you mentioned the Titans are inferior to the Atoms, I wasn't too sure if the Mini Monitors would also be inferior or almost similar to the Atoms in terms of sonic performance. Thinking of getting a pair for a secondary setup. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have the same issue with a 1 yr old running aroud the house and settled with Vandersteen's. They are truley a bargin and very dedicated to 2 channel if that is what you are looking for. Very refinned sound with a rich tonal balance that is unmatched at twice the price. I have the Model 1's but the 2's are awesome!
I purchased all of my speakers at the same time. I had the funds to "upgrade" from the Atoms to the Titans, but I honestly liked the sound of the Atoms better. The Titans had better low end, but the Atoms had clearer mids/highs and better imaging.
Filling my speaker stands with sand was a WOW moment. Imaging and soundstage improved quite a bit.
I am actually using a NAD T741 as the amp instead of the Outlaw 7125. The NAD pre/pro section broke which is why I purchased the Outlaw 950. So my first purchase will be a nice used Outlaw 7125 (Open to other suggestions here too, I am OK with continuing to use the NAD to power the center and surrounds and going with a better 2ch amp to power my mains if that will give me better 2ch music) and some interconnects. After that will be a Rega or ??
