Description

This is my start and will probably hold me content for a while. I live in a very small studio apartment in downtown Chicago. I do most of my listening on headphones to respect my neighbors and to avoid eviction. I was able to pick up the rotel gear used. I purchased the Woo Audio headphone amp, headphones, and the MIT cables new. I do want to get rid of that hulking tv and get a modest Salamander 2 tier rack. I love 2 channel audio and am very happy with the set up. It's great for my current lifestyle.

So I just set up a second rig with my B&Ws with a cheap KLH receiver from the 90s and a Sony SACD carousel that has needed to be taken out of the closet. They are in a room with cathedral ceilings. Put Brubeck's Take 5 on and sounds pretty freaking awesome. 15 years ago I dropped insane amount of cash on Bose 501 Towers, rears, center, sub, and Sony 5.1 receiver and felt stupid after listening to my buddy's NAD integrated and B&W 2 channel. No offense to any Bose owners, but I was really dissapointed with them. It's been fun educating myself for my budget this time. This site and headfi have been a great source. I see what some of you have and can't help but get a little green with envy. At the end of the day though, music has always stirred my soul and having some decent gear has been the icing on the cake.

I have not heard the B's. Honestly, I picked these up on a total whim from reading reviews and the price I got on them. Bassheads would like them. They do come with port plugs to tone down the bass. I was originally going to get some B&W 805s and I can honestly say I am very glad I didn't. I have always been a B&W guy, but I have changed my tune. The PSBs are very neutral and pair up with my Rotel gear quite well. They are just a big bang for the buck. I would like to step up to the Synchronies in a couple of years. The only other speaker I would like to try are some Focals. Other than that, I will stick with PSBs.

nice upgrade! I have DM602.5's... the tower version of your previous B&W's :-)

I once auditioned the Imagine B's and really enjoyed them! I haven't heard the towers, however. have you heard the Imagine B's? what did you compare the T's to?

System edited: Moved out of my matchbox. Got some new gear. Don't see alot of hifiers with PSBs, but I have been insanely happy with them as a 2 channel.

Looks like you are on your way, have fun exploring new gear, Rotel is a solid value and the BW monitor goes well with it.
