I have assembled this system through used purchases, on Audiogon, and very cheap new or hand-me-downs (CD player and TT). My next step is to move up in speakers to Sophia's or Usher Dancers, or something in that range.
System edited: Indulged in a pair of Sophia II's, bought of Audiogon, new never opened. Breaking in, haven't finished set-up yet. Awesome so far but now realize I have to improve source CD player and need a good phone stage.
Thanks again for the Usher information but I made a deal for the Wilson Sophia's I found here on Audiogon. They are local, I met the guy and trust him, he will help me with set-up etc. and I have heard Sophia's before so I know I will be very happy with them. It was between Wilson and Usher but these will be up and running way sooner. More $'s mind you!
I already checked prices in Taiwan and you can expect to pay around $6K USD for the BE10, not including shipping and customs.
As for reliability, I have had my Ushers for 1 year now, with almost daily use and no problems. It appears to be very well built! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Thanks for the feedback Tboooe. There is no Usher dealer where I live, in Vancouver, so I have my son, who lives in Taiwan, checking prices there. Who knows, I may be able to score a screaming deal. Have you had any reliability or service issues with the Ushers? That would be a concern for me given there is no local dealer. Btw, I checked out your system and pics......that is very nice equipment you have. Good to see someone with a dedicated living room for sound. Andy
abone1999, as a person who moved up from BW (601, 805S, 802D), I would say that Ushers are a great choice. I now have the BE10. You really do get incredible performance at a very reasonable price but I am sure you have read all of the reviews already. Good luck!
