Beautiful system...I just love the JM Labs speakers, but have never had the pleasure of hearing any of the Utopia series. How do you like them with your new amps over your old, looks like accuphase?
. Khoi, . I have a Teres 360 and absolutely love it and I have a Certus 460 on order with Chris. . Is Tbooe referring to Hoa Huynh ? . Incredible system that you have put together...Congratulations. . Rgds, Larry .
khoi...i know i know...analog sounds great. Hoa is trying to get me into it. maybe in the future. do you mind if i ask where you purchased your isoclean from? you and nick are more than welcomed to stop by anytime to give my system a listen. i really do like the esoteric. i am thinking about either doing a RAM upgrade to my x-03se or upgrading to the p3 d3.
Me and Nick haven't drop by your place for a while - your system must sound really good now with all the change. I have heard the Esoteric gear once but it did not fancy it, must be the setup (thought it's too neutral and not musical). But NOTHING digital wise beat analog!!!
As far as the isoclean, i love them - i went through quite a few power conditioner (Tice Power Block, Shunyata, PS Audio, Monster, Equitech and Sound Application). Each of these does different thing well but the Isoclean yield the lowest noise floor with black background with the most musical sound. If you are looking for something more affordable, i would recommend the Sound Application. I can only afford one set of isoclean (2 transformers, 2 power cable and 1 filter) which i plug everything in.
Cello,
What's there not to like about the Teres 340 (except the Teres Certus if you can afford it) - i have the Oracle Mrk V Ann ed (with the Granite) and the Clear Audio Champion II and of course the Teres beat both of these. I would highly recommend it - the other two table i was considering before purchasing the Teres was the Platine Verdier and the Raven. But i am always a sucker for wood thus my choice!!
Joey,
The Cary SLP 05 is good, i am sure there are better tube preamp out there (i had the Blue Circle BC3000 before), and the Cary had better bass, bigger soundstage. I have gone through the Air tight, Audio Research LS25, Joule LA 100 (thought it would match with my VZN-160 but it does not). Still few other preamp i like to try - Shindo, Conrad Johnson and maybe Supratek. I am happy with it so far...
kdtran, i noticed that you use the Isoclean isolation transformers. Do you mind if I ask what you think of them? Did you compare them with anything else? Are you using them for your amps?
System edited: Update all the pics - i think i will rest here for a while. Will start collecting some cartridges now (just got the Koetsu Rosewood Sign Platinum: it's a beautiful sounding cartridge, i think i like it better than the Dynavector XV-1s)
I have tried few Cable IC and Speaker Cable before and these include Kimber Select, Sinergistic Research Ref, Nordost Valhalla/Valkyrja/Quattro Fil, Cardas Golden Ref, Goezt and Audioquest (Sky) and so far i like the MIT Oracle best in my system.
Cable in my opinion is system dependent but what i like about the MIT is the Clarity, the Tonality (not as sweet as Valhalla) and the bass and transparency.
In my system, the MIT and the Vahalla is both colored but in a good way. The Valhalla is fast, sweet and very transparent by lack in bass and body/air. The Cardas is too muddy and warm while the Kimber Select is very neutral and clear but too dry.
Few other cable i wanted to try are Kubala Sosna, Purist Audio and Siltech...
Nice System. If you are looking for a tube amp with more power, I would check out the CAT JL2. 100 WPC triode. This amp is the best I have ever heard. Beautiful extended highs, and mid range to die for, with all the detail and bass control of a solid state. Also the EAR amps are powerful and extremely musical Good Luck Carl
