Budget system in Ecuador= very hard to find components. very small room, I think it sounds great but I don't have something to compare it to, any suggestion will be very welcomed! I'm into jazz and classical music with some rock once in a while. I also watch action and adventure movies in Blu-ray.
Hola feli que tal, recién cree in ggrupo hifi de Ecuador en Facebook, sería genial que tenerte como miembro si te parece ayúdame con tu correo o nombre en Facebook, Saludos
Hi, sorry for answering so late I was away for a while. I tried your suggestion but the center speaker just doesn't fit nicely below the tv. the good news I got my turntable and my deck back from refurnishing! and everything sounds great! I'll post new pictures soon. thanks
Here's some equipment placement advice based on your 1st picture. Move the silver CD player to the lower shelf and put the PS3 on top of it. Then relocate your center channel to the top shelf below the TV. Try it and let us know if you notice an ergonomic and acoustic advantage.
Thanks, so the VDAC is on my ongoing upgrades list. Is it a good idea to put marble underneath the components and speakers? It's not that expensive here, so I was wondering if it would be a good upgrade. and if so is there good that is better than other and how thick should it be? thanks for any advice. feli
I can definitely recommend the MF VDAC. It has tested very well in all reviews, in the HIFI Critic review it bested all budget DAC's including the Benchmark. Another key to consider is that it locks on to the data stream very fast, this is important when using an airport express as users tend to skip around a bit more when their entire library is at their fingertips.
Hi, thanks for the advice, I connect the Airport Express to the Onkyo digitally and then I send the signal to the McIntosh. via the preamp outs of the Onkyo, to the aux in the McIntosh preamp; after many experiments I decided this was the best way to go. If anyone has a better way I'll try it and post the results. and yes one of my future upgrades is a DAC, I've being thinking about the Musical Fidelity V/DAC any advice on this one or another one in the same price range. For now I'm refurbishing the Dual 1229 with high hopes of better sound and buying LPs, once in a while I find good stuff here in Ecuador. thanks again, bests regards to Nick! feli
I noticed you use an Airport Express. I have one too connected to my old McIntosh receiver through a Benchmark Dac1. If you have the AE connected directly to your preamp, you may want to consider a DAC as well. The internal DAC in the AE isn't very good, and for a few hundred you can get yourself a nice used one here on Audiogon.
Hi, thanks. my mother is from Cuenca, I'm glad you have enjoyed Ecuador. yeah I think it's long way ahead, any suggestions? my room is tiny and I know that is a big problem, but for now it will have to do. thanks for the offer! I'll post more pictures soon. I'm really enjoying audiogon
