an adcom gfa-555 is a great amp for the maggies, I have one powering a set of mg-11c's, can be had on ebay for around $400. It's 325watts/channel at 4ohms so it's plenty of power. It's a nice system but the room looks way too small for the 1.6's, the mmg's may have been a better choice for the room given their smaller size but then again the 1.6's are a lot better. The buggest downside is that for the maggies to really perform they need to be three feet out from the wall and about eight feet apart.

I'd say get a few cheap carpets or decorative cloths and use them to cover up the tile walls, that will help to reduce bad reflections you're getting, and can also help you decorate :-) I'm in school too, power to the college maggie rockers!

To Raytheprinter, I love my maggies although they are tough to deal with in a small space like my dorm room... I love the high's and mid's of the maggies but, in my little room I have a lot of reflection which I guess is to be expected. I listen to a little of everything jazz, country, bluegrass, and old&new rock...To Cytocycle thanks for the suggestion, I will try that and I was wondering what amp I should look towards next to power my maggies?

awesome system I had Mag MGIIIa in college dorm. The biggest key with Maggies is to get as much power as you can. they will open up. another thing you can do is angle them toward the listening position and try the tweeters on the inside instead of the recommended outside.. I preferred the soundstaging..
