this setup was recommended to me by Bobby Palkovic at Merlin Music Systems. I have been a Merlin speaker fan for years. And when i was about to upgrade my equipment i sent an e-mail to Bobby to hear what he would recommend. He was very helpful and i decided to go for everything he suggested within my budget. And i have to tell you i am very happy with that decision.
The sound is everything i hoped it would be and more. The music moves me. And this setup can play all kinds of music. I now listen to much more jazz and classical. The sound from the instruments communicates with my heart :)
Love your system, Its actually almost the same as mine. The only thing different is the cabling (morrow audio sp2 series) and the cd player.
Its been some years later, do you still use the Aero audio Prima? Got any tips what also should work well with the Merlins, and the ARS as a source. Thanks
Greetings Tmiddle, i have 11" between shelves and that`s no problem as my rack is open. I guess 9" will make it a lot hotter but if it`s open all around there shouldn`t be a problem. The sound has gradually changed since my last post. I think its the new cables that is finally setteling in. They really took a long time to start sounding their best, 3 months with regular play every day. It`s really wonderful now. I had a musician over last weekend and he said he really didn`t think a stereo system could compete with the real thing, but he changed his mind :) The Filarmonia is beautiful and the perfect match with the Merlins.
Very nice and also similar to my system. I have the Filarmonia on order since last March. I am curious about whether you think that 9" between shelves would be sufficient for the Filarmonia? Had originally intended the Filarmonia to take the top of a 3 shelf TAOC rack, but am seriously considering a top loading cdp as my final upgrade.
System edited: Update: 24.07.06. Changed the speaker cable from Cardas Neutral to Golden Refs and could not have predicted how much better they are in my system. More natural, fuller and complete. Cannot live without them ;)
Very elegant, and minimal system. I am interested in possibly upgrading my tyler accoustic monitors to TSMs, and was wondering what your thoughts on them are. Drop me an email, as I will never remember to check back at this virtual system.
