This is a system I built for my younger brother out of used components purchased from Audiogon members. This is a great sounding system. Really well balanced, no weak link. It has SACD and DVD-A capability, a reference quality digital front end, it connects to his TV set for home theatre. He had some speakers that he now uses for the rear surrounds. There's no Sub-woofer yet, but there is still room to buy a nice one and still be under $10,000. The speaker cables are 12 AWG OFC from PartsExpress terminated with gold plated banana plugs. Interconnects are from AVCables and there's a glass Toslink from Wireworld.
Excellent points, but I started with a budget, had many opportunities and temptations to bust it, but I stuck to it, got it all under $10,000, which was the goal -- and -- I've seen other threads where posters have asked how to build a system that addresses all of these issues for under $10,000. So, for these reasons, I felt that I was budget minded and that others might want to see a system with these parameters -- one that I can really endorse. This system really works well together and I can recommend it highly to anyone who is shopping in that price range.
I also think it is a testament to Audiogon that I could assemble such a system from used equipment bought from a lot of great people.
