We needed a good system for movies but I would much rather listen to music... What started out as a 6.1 B&W 600 series setup ended up with Nautilus 804s for music, I just couldn't resist. I added the HTM-2 center so that the front stage would match, and threw in LM-1s and the CWM-Cinema to fill in the surrounds. After adding the Velodyne HGS-12 the system is great for movies, but it really shines with just the N804s and the Rotel 993 in 2 channel music.
System edited: Replaced the RB-991 with an RB-993 to even out the front sound stage. With kids around now, we watch more movies on this system so it made sense.
Lovely system . . . simple and very clean. Nice attention to detail with the gathered curtains on the inside of the cabinet doors - it adds warmth and breaks up the "box count" look. The Missus must be quite pleased.
2nd Chads comments on the 2 channel preamp. A nice tube pre with a bypass and, perhaps, an additional pre-out for your sub and you'll have a very tasty 2-n-1 combo on your hands.
Hi, what an amazing, simple, intriguing setup. I am using the same rotel amp and subwoofer. they do sound amazing in 2 channel, including you using the b&ws. the simplicity of your setup is what i think home theaters should look like today. art
some nice gear there, just wait and try a nice 2 channel preamp someday...it will be a huge leap over your reciever as a pre, you can add one running your Yama thru it on bypass for movies. If you can try pulling your speakers out in the room when you listen to just music. I see you have the Oppo, hopefully you run DVI or HDMI to let it really shine, if you can let us know how it performs. That is also a very clean well put together system, BW speakers are always a good bet,and Rotel amps are great also..............nice job.
