The legs are filled with a special sand. Called “heavy sand”. Comes out of the bench rest shooting world. Used to fill rear bags making them heavier than what is possible with cement sand or playground sand.
hbarrel, Yeah I agree with milpai, thanks a lot for the invite and it was fun hearing new great music. Marvelous taste in equipment and the simplicity of it works wonderfully. Just goes to show there is so much to learn from others and striving to team up and enjoy the music might keep the audiophile HiFi hobby alive for a while longer….
Thank You for hosting us last evening. It was a great experience and I learned quite a bit from you and @2psyop. Loved your system and looking forward to meeting soon at my place or @2psyop .
hbarrel- Beautiful system, I like it and bet it sounds glorious. I have a MF integrated amp as well. If Milpai is still interested, a get together would be fine with me too. We have been trying for awhile now…
I am close to you, near Akron. The thread originator that you responded too is also close by. Maybe we should get together in late spring. What say @2psyop ?
Let's see it is four years since my last update... nothing has changed except idiot (me) has learned I can control the Macmini's output signal. Changed the output to 96kHz (all music is Apple lossless) that the Xciter receives. WOW!
My system sounds exponentially better.
For a set of smallish speakers 🔊 n a small environment I could not be happier.
System edited: Changed stand... custom made 2" cherry Added a Fanfare tuner which is fed by a ST-1 antenna. CD player started having issues and since going to a MAC computer based music library was in the cards and an appropriate DAC was going to be needed added a Cary Audio Xciter DAC. Grabbed my Oppo 980H DVD player and Blue Jeans toslink and married the group together. I'm shocked at how well it sounds. More harmony in the heartland...
System edited: The equipment rack went from an Adona stand to a stand of my design (which if I had it to over again would be modified) made out of 2" cherry wood. I cannot believe a deceit tuner is worth the money. It is.
This is the most intriguing system I have seen on Audiogon. It looks like dollar per dollar an extremely difficult system to beat. I am a big fan of Blue Circle but I have only used their tubed separates. Would you mind sharing your experiences with this integrated? Also, I almost bought a pair of Shahinian Obelisks but I opted for JM Reynaud instead. I was concerned about the imaging. How have you found the Shahinians to perform vs full range drivers? Thanks for your time.
The systems synergy is really quite beyond words. I wish I had the $$$ to purchase the top of the line Shahinian speakers. You NEVER see used Shahinian speakers for sale and the company has been in business for quite a while.
