The system is geared towards my listening habits - classical (33%), jazz (33%), and acoustic pop (33%). After a long period with little change to the system, late 2006 and 2008 brought an urge to make some upgrades. The final future steps may be to upgrade the AZ power cable to a Nordost Valhalla cable, and move up to the Valhalla speaker cables (although interested in thinking about alternatives...). That will pretty much do me... I hope! Any thoughts on rounding off this system appreciated!!
System edited: just made a series of upgrades which have added a lot of body to the music - upgrading speaker panels; upgrading power cables to Elrod Statements and adding the Hydra VRay power conditioner. Pleased with the results so far!!
System edited: A new power cable (Elrod Statement) which will link wall with Hydra power conditioner (once the conditioner has been purchased). For now, the cable links the wall with PA Audio Ultimate outlet. Made more of a difference than expected - but keen to get power conditioner asap to simplify a messy power routing (3 ultimate outlets and a power strip...
I was really impressed when I placed Aurios under the CDP a few years ago - but too long ago to now remember what impressed me! The recent addition of Aurios under the speakers seemed to have less impact (or maybe my ears are getting old..). As best as I can describe the change: I felt there was better definition between the instruments. Maybe more "space" between the muisicians. Perhaps a bit more detail was emerging. However, it did feel like an incremental improvement. Not as radical as the most recent power cable upgrade. Having said all that, I still plan to get more aurios (or something similar) to put under the pre-amp which still rests directly on the rack.
Hi. Thanks! Yes, there is a carpet out of shot. But we are in rented accommodation, so the room is my biggest problem right now (along with the fact the whole system is powered through a $1 socket adapter to allow my cables to plug onto the Chinese wall socket!). Nick
System edited: Have replaced the AZ Tsunami power cord with Elrod EPS 2 Signature on the CDP. I was amazed by the improvement to the texture of the music! Am trying to take a good pic to upload on to the system...
Hi, my system is Nuvista cdp, Plinius M16, SA102, into Dynaudio Contour 5.4s. I heard a system with mono'd SA250s and it was amazing, totally effortless!!!
Will post some pics. Just bought some more Aurios and put them under the speakers. How is your system configured? Are you using electrostatics? I am considering buying another power amp - and have a pair of monoblocks. Not sure how big of an impact this would have...
System edited: Replaced AZ Matrix interconnects with Nordost Valhalla ICs. Great improvement. Brought to life - took away a degree of foginess in the old set up.
