New diffusers,in sweden they simply named "the wing"they are even better than the golden horns due to the fact that they are diffusing down to 400 hz!!!
Hi Blixten, Love the equipment and attention to room acoustics - you're like in that regard. If you listen from the leather(?) couch against the back wall, may I suggest you place thick absorption there instead of the 2D diffusers? Sitting so close to diffusers isn't normally advised so say Prof Cox diffusion expert. Perahps you've already tried absorption there; in any event it'd be interesting to hear your impressions on both approaches. Cheers, kevin
Nice system, Blixten. I used a pair of Dynaudio Contour 5.4's for quite a few years, and loved them. I have been told the Temptations are so far beyond the 5.4's, it wasn't even close. With your components, and the Temptations, I've no doubt that you are indeed happy.
Hi Wcvb. Regarding the diffusers i prefer golden horn they diffuse between 800hz-16khz,the ma 200 are more complicated to work with due to many different sizes,they diffuse between 100hz-16khz depending on the size and they absorb as well,here is the absorbtion koefficient for 4 MA 200 1D Helmholtz 370 mm depth. Hz Absorption coefficient 80...... 0.74 100.... 0.8 125.... 0.78 160.... 0.8 200.... 0.82 250.... 0.7 400.... 0.33 500.... 0.34 1000.. 0,28 1600.. 0.3 2500.. 0,22 4000.. 0,27 The size of my room is approx 25 square meters,and i have 6 pieces of v6,2 v4 and 1 v5,and now it sounds really good!!!! Kindly/Ingemar
Your system might be minimalist in terms of equipment but you've certainly paid careful attention to room acoustics.
That certainly is a lot of Golden Horn. How do you find the Golden Horn works compared to the MA 200? Also what size is you room and how many Varitunes do you have?
Hi Wcvb. With 8 square meters of golden horn i the ceiling a long with all the others,at the first reflex on the sidewalls and some at the sweetspot i get more of everything,bigger,wider,deeper,3d,micro,macro you name it,as for the varitunes, they are very, very effective,a must in my room with a very bad nod at 30hz. Kindly/Ingemar
Hi Blixten. I'm interested in your diffusors. What effect do they have on the sound in your room? Have you compared them with any other diffusors or acoustic treatments? Also how well do the Varitunes work?
Hi Kevinzoe. The things you can see on the top row are MA 200 1D even so on the bottom raw.The black thingys are Golden horn diffusers. At the very bottom are varitune v6 helmholtz basstraps, you can adjust them between 25-65hz.You can find them all with this link:http://www.diffusor.com
Hi Blixten - nice looking pictures and gear! Please tell me about the front wall acoustical treatments. They appear to be a shallow QRD diffuser that you've got oriented vertically on the bottom row and horizontally on the top row and some kind of small Skyline-type diffuser. And is all those diffuser divices sitting atop a bass trap of sorts?
Hi Jimbojrjb. Regarding the price of the cables here in sweden is crazy,90000 swedish kroner or 12500$ for 8 feet of cable, hmmmmm. And the sound, what shall i say, hmmmm you will get everything and one thing is for shure they are transparent!!!!!It is like no cable at all, bass is deep and firm and upwords they are like a tubeamp. regards/Ingemar
How do you like the Transparent Cables? I almost passed out from the price tag, but have to admit I am a bit curious of their sound and what they did for your system. Thanks!
very nice! I had an LS15 for quite some time, and just recently Contour S3.4s in my system. I love the S3.4s (I am a Dynaudio fan for life, before those I had 1.8MKII's, now S5.4s). Amazing sound for the footprint and price along the lineup. I bet that classic Krell amp synergizes beautifully with the S3.4's inherent neutrality and tonal balance Post some pics if you can. Congrats!
