The Truth regarding Vintage Electronics is that If it ain't broken, you don't need to throw it out to buy the latest (STATE-OF-THE-ART) equipment. The vintage equipment seen in this photo, is what I consider to be Impeccable. The 29" Mitsubishi Television that I purchased in 1988, still has a very sharp and brilliant color richness, making it one of the best (CRT) TV sets ever built. My next piece of equipment is the Harman Kardon Festival II Model TA-260 integrated stereophonic receiver manufactured in 1960. The receiver is hooked up to a cable box, computer and media player that holds my music & video library. Complimenting the HK TA-260 is a pair of KLH model twenty loud speakers built in 1964. Contrary to obsolescent (should be in a landfill) assumptions, This system just might be a force to be reckoned with. I have also included three unique preamps that I have designed and constructed.
Custom made from parts like a cigar box, a name plate from a lawn maintainance roller, an old gutted out massage device that concealed the transformer etc!. My preamp does it's job well and provides a transparent bridge between the source and the muscle.
Magnified Listening Apparatus 01
My Jules Verne-esque Headphone amp is made from 2 patinated copper charger plates, a 12" x 8" clear glass cylinder, 8 aircraft turnbuckles, a ceramic base knife switch w/ fuse holder, a gutted out antique electric motor that conceals the transformer, 2 miniature radiator covers that conceal an array of ecaps. Some parts were brushed with olive oil and baked in the oven to give the pieces an aged appearance. It's sonic quality is outstanding.
Weston Ammeter HP-AMP 01
I built this Headphone amp from a 1905 gutted out Weston Electrical Instrument Company Ammeter Gauge, which I used for the housing, incorporating a simple yet elegant and transparent OTL design.
