Description

My listening bias is transparentcy, superior imaging & soundstaging and natural timbre.

The Thiel 2.3 sound terrific in this system, synergetic with the GamuT's soundstaging and imaging strengths, and the Nordost cablings ability to deliver a crisp attack and decay of transients. One drawback to this marriage is the cooler demeaner of the Gamut amplifier and the Thiel's transparency may on occassion sound a tiny bit analytical on some recordings.

The Metronome combination is smooth as silk and far from analytical, without blurring the nuance in the music.

The Thiels provide deep, tight bass, but not the fullness that I prefer, so the Vandy 2WQ fills the void admirably. The Vandy's melt into the soundstage and provide tight, coherent bass without stumbling over complex organ or electric bass lines.

I'd like feedback as to improving the overall sound, focusing on the speakers and possibly the power amplifier.

What amp are you driving the Thiels with. There is none listed in your equipment list although you mention the GamuT brand-name in your text.

You might use sound anchor stands for your Thiels and if you can tilt the speakers back it should add a little fullness to the midbass.

Maybe try a different power amp. I use Sim Audio Moon W-5 in a passive preamp setup to drive my Thiel CS2.3. It has excellent dynamic control, all the transparency I could hope for and probably more warmth than GamuT although I have not had the opportunity to hear the two amps in side-by-side comparison.

Please consider acoustic treatment. My Thiel 2.3's have a very wide and deep soundstage.

Best of Luck

I would recommend an upgrade to your power supply.
1) dedicated curcuit
2) Hydra power conditioner
3) upgraded power cords (this takes system matching so recommendations of brand is hard. I use NBS Statement and they have been great with all equipment I have tried them on)
