Description
This system is in my college apartment. The Sunfire was obtained at a great deal, and is largely overkill for my space (it will be used in a bigger system after I graduate). I only turn it on for movies during reasonable hours. The rest of the time the K-10 is sufficient and I love the sound! The Dynaudios are powered by a Crown XLS402. Most of you probably frown upon using a pro-amp, but I love having the headroom and I think it sounds great. My Dynaudios really like having the power. The Denon receiver is only used for switching, and doesn t power anything. The room isn´t great, but I graduate in a year and plan on finding a space where I have enough room and can turn up the volume without feeling guity (although, I´m among the quieter residents in college apartments I think).
My source for music is a home built computer running Ubuntu Studio Linux.
Back home I have a pair of Technics 1210 turntables and a Vestax mixer, which is what this system will use as a source when I graduate. At that point (once I have a place to live where I do not need to worry about noise), this system will become a secondary (bedroom?) one to the M&K S-150, SS-150 and 750 home theater I have been SLOWLY piecing together. Saving up for a stack of XLS402s to power all of that and a nice preamp with XLS connectors. I like big sound when it comes to home theater. Also have a Velodyne HGS-18" subwoofer with a bad amp I got for like nothing, just need to find a replacement plate amp. I plan on contacting Velodyne about that when money permits (focusing on saving and investing right now). The Sunfire True Sub would go into that system as well. Ill need some sort of bass management system.
