Description

Hello everyone. I have been visiting here on Audiogon reading posts and anything I could get my eyes on soaking up all the wonderful knowledge that is available on here. I am only 21 and am becoming more and more of an audiophile each day. While I love having great video as well, audio is still important to me as I love listening to great music.

My Beethoven's sound best obviously when listening to classical, jazz and what not. But they are also amazing with rock, industrial, techno whatever. I love my speakers but am considering Martin Logan Vantages and have no clue whether or not I would like them in my system. I can only audition them at Tweeter and they sound half as good at best to my set-up. I guess because they use Pioneer receivers and cheap Audioquest cables, with Cambridge audio cd players and what not. I do notice that they have a lot of potential though. They deff. sound a lot warmer to me. I'm used to that very rich bright detailed sound from my Vienna's.

I am pleased to have finally posted my system after much viewing of others here. I have yet to post pictures, but will gladly do so soon. It's amazing how many unique systems are out there. I hope mine is too! :) I can't wait to get home from work and have a nice listen, it is so relaxing and stimulating.

So, with all of my posted equipment in mind, I am very welcoming and open to suggestions, idea, remarks, negative and positive ones, bashing, it doesn't matter to me! I just want to learn. So if anyone could kindly suggest as to how they think my system stacks up, please let me know! Keep in mind whatever this retailed for, which I think it was about $26K all in all including video, most things were either half off or more than half off! Probably a $15 system. Hope that could be categorized as a budget system as well! Thank you all Audiogoner's!

Components Toggle details

    • Vienna Acoustics Beethoven
These speakers are incredibly bright yet not harsh. The highest highs are not ear piercing yet detailed so much with clarity.
    • NAD M3 Dual Mono Integrated
I have only used Integrateds for budget reasons and I must say this M3 sounds like expensive separates!
    • NAD M5 CD/SACD Player
This is an amazing CD player esp. when used with balanced cables.
    • Richard Gray Power Conditioner 400 Pro
I am using two of these 400 Pro's. 1 for the NAD amp alone and the other for rest of components, and I have to say they do make not only an improvement but a huge one. I notice every minute detail in sound and picture and everything was enhanced. I mean everything!
    • Wireworld Silver Electra 8 Foot Pair
WOW, going from Audioquest Mont Blanc to these was amazing! The sound stage opened up dramatically and imaging like i never knew. Just a lot more clarity.
    • Wireworld Golden Eclipse 5 Squared
This 1 meter balanced is 100% pure silver and kills Audioquest sky bar-none for $700 cheaper. I use this for the NAD M5 cd player, amazing...
    • Wireworld Silver Eclipse 5 Squared RCA
I use this for the Pioneer Blu-ray and mjst say sounds very close to Audioquest's Sky for thousands cheaper as I only paid $350 for 1 meter, retails for $800 I believe. Sounds amazing with Movies encoded in PCM or Dolby True HD.
    • Wireworld Silver Electra Power Cord
WOW, these power cords are awesome, amazing dyanmics, soundstage and imaging. I have 3 of these, 1 for cd, amp and blu-ray. May upgrade amp cord to Richard Gray high tension.
    • Wireworld HDMI Cable Silver Starlight 5 Squared
This beats the Audioquest yet again, the HDMI-3. While not drastically like the speaker cable and other interconnects, there is still a nice improvement. My Video quality is top notch, as best as I can get unless someone has suggestions :)
    • Sony 60 KDSR60XBR2
This is an amazing TV with stunning clarity and color especially when in 1080P with the Pioneer.
    • Pioneer Elite Blu-Ray Player PRO 94HD
This player has unbelievable picture quality! Very deep blacks, super rich colors, so much clarity, amazing! Brand new model just got two days ago.

So now I can't add pictures since I didn't do so in the beginning? Maybe I'll redo it.

Here's just some photos I took of my old Denon 3805 with a pic or two of my system in the background... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110150747769&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT&ih=001

I have been considering the Jeff Rowland Concerto integrated, I have heard plenty of great things about it, but am wondering if I would benefit from that going from my NAD M3 or stepping up to seperates (which I have never had) such as a Krell and maybe Rowland pre. I started this hobby about 6 months ago with a very simple yet great system for me which was my Denon 3805 and Definitve Technolofy Pro Cinema 60, using Audioquest cables. I then decided to go strictly 2 channel and haven't turned back, with Vienna Bach's but now BEETHOVEN Concernt's! I may even get the Mahlers here shortly. I think I'm progressing very fast for just getting started.
I'm not one to bash other manufacturers, but I stepped away from Audioquest after knowing they are becoming more frequently fakely produced. Wireworld works much better in my system anyway. In my first post, I indicated that Vienna Acoustics sounds bright to me, while everyone else feels they are warm, to me Martin Logan is warm, but maybe I actually enjoy the warmer side more, except for the fact that with my system , some recordings can almost be a little harsh, which I don't enjoy :( Any suggestions about improving my mediocre dilemna or about my mediocre system in general would be much appreciated.
