This is the main system in our living room. Large floor standers are part of my home-decor agreement with my wife- she controls everything outside of the listening space. I would eventually like to get a step-up so I can experiment with MC cartridges, but I haven't taken the leap yet. I used to be a bass player, so good bass response is very important to me. We listen to a wide range of music, favorites include solo piano (Brendel & Ashkenazy!), metal (Neurosis & Sleep), industrial (Einstuerzende Neubauten), punk (Crass, Melt Bannana), folk (Bob Dylan & The Clancy Brothers), classic rock (Pink Floyd, Steve Miller etc.) & funk (Parliament and the Meters). I love to come home and find my wife enjoying our vinyl collection, so I don't think I will ever own a $4000 cartridge- she has a steadier hand and a better ear than I, but I wouldn't ever want her to worry about just playing the music... But, I can still fantasize about a carved Japanese job!
