Lovely system! Backert and Pass seem like a synergistic match! I’ve got the same pre but not with Pass; Amazed with how nonexistent the noise floor is with the Backert!
Thank you. The 300B's are really a dream come true. they are sweet but roar when they need to. The Wyetch Topaz 872-10 SET is pretty amazing too.As a matter of fact the 300B's are a more full and slightly warmer sound but the SET leaves nothing to be desired.
Very nice system -- I have the O96's and the DCS Bartok (non-Apex) myself and love it. The 300Bs must put out a very sweet sound, I went a different path due to space constraints for amplification but perhaps someday...
I sure do too. I listened to a bunch of speakers when I was replacing my Brentworth Sound Lab single drivers. Nothing appealed to me; Magico, Harbeth, Dynaudio etc. As a last resort the salesman pulled out the O96’s and within a minute I knew that was the sound I was after. 5 years later they have the same impact on me as they did the first time I heard them.
The love of tubes is a result of my loving Ampeg tube bass amps and the tube table radios we had in our home when I was a kid. All of the recordings I love were mostly done analog on tube gear with tube mics. The idea of lower power tube amps and high efficiency speakers has always appealed to me and sounded best to my ears.
What a great looking space! When you have a second, it would be nice to know what piece of equipment does what job. Maybe many here would know, but many would not. And I'm always curious about what brought you to tubes, and efficient speakers and all that. To my eyes, I think you have three different kinds of amplification, but why, and when do you use one over the other?
Truly does look like a great place to listen to music....
