Description

This system is still a work in progress and will get some photos added by and by.  All of the gear excluding only the TASCAM is at least 30 years old.  Hang on to stuff long enough and it becomes "vintage."  Of course, that means I'm now vintage too!

    • Advent Baby Advent mkII
80s redesign of the original.  These were purchased for a 5.1 home theater system I built back in 1989.  Mine have been recharged with Audax HM170Z18 woofers out of Madisound.  Still using the original tweeters and crossovers.  The new woofers made a big difference and produce a laser-focused image in my hyper near-field (36") listening environment.  I will eventually get something more appropriate, but these work well for now.
    • Robert Grodinsky Research (RGR) Model 4-1
This was originally a Model 4 that was updated by the original owner a year or so after he purchased it.  I've been using it off and on since 1982 and have finally returned it to regular service.
    • Belles Research Model One
The first product Belles offered, purchased new in 1984 from Gala Sound in Rochester.  Original with new binding posts in December 2024 as a 40th birthday present.  Plenty of power and current for demanding applications, including my Stax SR-404 Signature earspeakers driven through an SRD-7SB MK2 energizer.
    • TASCAM DA-3000
Analog to digital SSD recorder, capable of up to 192 kHz 24 bit and DSD 128.
    • Denon DRM-710
3 head, dual capstan cassette deck I purchased second hand to transcribe old audiobooks to digital when my beloved Tandberg TCD-440a ascended to Valhalla in 2021.  Solid deck that is just fine for the limited playback use I give it.
