I'm definitely envious when I view some of the amazing spaces some Audiogon Virtual systems reside in. But alas, space is at a premium in our townhome and I was forced to convert our small dining nook to use for my critical listening. Fortunately, this space is open to the rest of the floor and not an enclosed room. I recently over hauled my system and consider this to be my "End Game" for now. Retirement just got better :) . I chose the Dynaudio Confidence 20's for their flexible placement and downward firing ports. They also produce adequate bass to use without a sub since I lack the space for one. I replaced my older McIntosh Integrated with the Luxman and am extremely happy with the results. The SolidSteel rack (their flagship line) replaced a somewhat shaky Salamander rack which doubled as bookcase. The Shunyata replaced my Furman Elite. My listening area is nearfield, and is an equilateral triangle of less than 6'. This does reduce some reflections from the furniture in my non-dedicated space. My music is 100% digital and I have more than 2.5K combined CDs and SACDs.
Thank you for the kind words David, I really appreciate it! I’m extremely happy with my recent upgrades especially the Confidence 20s which replaced a pair of ELAC towers which were too large for this space.
What an elegant, intelligent solution to a lack of space. I've had good luck with near-field listening, and I am pretty sure i will have to enjoy it again before I am through with my ears.
Your equipment seems like just enough - really good examples of each stereo category, from sources to electronics to headphones and speakers.
And I enjoy your Man Ray images on the wall, and that cabinet is lovely.
