Funny that the T+A amps that would go with this DAC run the Purifi modules.. I bought the buckeye amps first. Very happy with the sound of this system. L+ R Subs run stereo pre-out (RCA) from the T+A and balanced out to the Buckeye monoblocks, via Morrow cable (only analog inter-component cable, so spent a bit on it). Mac Mini is both streamer and DSP, USB into the T+A DAC. The Buckeyes have plenty of oomph combined with the 95+db/1w Tektons makes this a fun system. The Tekton Impact monitors were first, loved them - great midrange/treble (vs. My MLogan and Magnepans and B&W's) but midbass-bass needed more. Upgraded to these custom half-Ulf's (the full size would be too tall for my room, our basement). The other gear (Marantz, Buttkicker, 3 channel Buckeye, Belkin power conditioner) are for the HT chain. But with BACCH I find myself doing a lot more 2 channel listening, whose gear (Mac, T+A, Buckeyes) is all on the Puritan filter.
1) the T+A replaced a rotating set of DACs: my Bryston Preamp, a fully optioned Gheselli, and my streamer's internal DAC: Eversolo. I go USB out of my macMini which runs BACCH for both spacial and room correction.
2) yes, the rack is full DIY. cheaper wood from Lowes - coutertops based on fruitwood glued for butcher block style, and 24" large threaded rods and blackened washers and nuts. Wood was stained with Rubio Moncoat - Charcoal
Hello there! Now that you have a nicely put system and love the sound, I had a question on the T+A DAC. What DAC did it replace? Care to share how the upgrade enhanced your listening experience?
