Description

Updated April 22, 2024 - Finally completed the multi-month upgrade to my vinyl front-end. Traded out my beloved Basis 2500 TT for an Audiogon-sourced Transrotor Zet 3.2 from Germany. The Basis was wonderful but time for a change and the Zet definitely makes a visual statement. Also amazing craftsmanship and dead quiet PS. The Zet exceeded the weight and size limitations of my previous Finite Elemente rack so ended up selling that here - and replacing with a new Adona Eris 5C rack. Rock solid with granite and cherrywood shelves - very happy with the new configuration.

Recently moved to a smaller place in Encinitas and needed to downsize. Pretty happy with the sound from this new configuration so thought I would share.
Like many of you, I have been on the audiophile treadmill for quite a while - over 2 decades now.
While I've had more expensive systems, I would say few match the overall coherence of this setup. The components work well together. The Wilsons dovetail nicely with the SVS (a wonderful sub) to deliver very flat response from 20 - 20K. And the Devialets are incredibly versatile - delivering clean, quiet power to effortlessly drive the Wilsons to concert level SPLs.

Beautiful system of carefully selected gear! Transrotor makes fantastic TTs that are very pleasing to the eyes. They're on my shortlist of companies should I choose to upgrade my own table.

Thank you!

Wow, your Zet TT is absolutely stunning!  I would imagine it sounds incredible.  I also had the Devialet 440 Pro for many years.  It has incredible detail and imaging.  You have a great system.  Happy listening!

Thanks for the feedback, JPan. (Coincidentally, just added some new pictures with some recent additions (e.g. Turntable and rack)). I have really enjoyed the Sabrinas and have them pretty well dialed in at this point with the SVS sub. Overall, the sound is very good - but the midrange is missing a bit of that air/soundstage/magic that I last experienced with my Kharma DB11s. I had a much bigger room then so perhaps not a fair comparison - but from what I have read, the Borresen's might be an improvement. I would sacrifice some bottom end weight but that is easier to address with the sub. In any event, haven't even heard the Borresen's yet but looking forward to doing so in June at THE Show here in SoCal. Cheers.

Very nice system functionally and aesthetically. Well done especially given you had to down-size. Per your comment on my system and now looking at yours, I’m wondering what you hope to get out of the Borressen’s (or other monitors) vs. what you have now out of the Sabrina’s? Perhaps better integration into your room and/or sub? Have you played around much w/ speaker and sub placement? Anyhow, I could see myself enjoying a beverage with that view!

Great listening space. I bet the combination of sound and that lush view out the window holds your attention. The SabrinaXs are on my audition list. I think their size would work well in my smallish room.

What a well though out and wonderful equipment selection.

Also SVS sub fan. And their Ultra towers (own them).

Very cool system and great job at downsizing!

Thanks for the feedback, DJ. Yes - I have been pretty impressed with the versatility, power, and sound of the Devialet's. Amazing for a couple monoblocks that together are smaller than a regular pizza box :-) Best of luck with your new config.

Nice rig. Very interesting ideal going with the Devialet system. I will be going into a major downsizing  operation soon too and  that might be an option. I definitely like the form factor and styling of the Devialet. Thanks  for posting.
