I moved to new house that has a lot larger listening room than my previous house. So, I retooled my system with the budget I had. I chose Polk Audio R700s for my speaker because they move a lot of air and have really deep base. Plus, they are easy on the ears, which is a plus for my tinnitus. I have bass traps and diffusers from GIK to treat my room, that made a huge difference. For cabling I have Oyaide Black Mamba on my server, Canare 4s11 speaker cables and on my McIntosh Integrated I will have a Hijiri Tukami. Yes, the Tukumi is twice as much as my speakers crazy I know. Anyway, I love this system!!!
emergingsoul-that is not a component, it is just a box with a sign. How do the ceiling panels affect things? I had someone hang on the front, side, and ceiling panels one day so I don't have a handle on how just the ceiling panels alone affects the sound. I will say the room treatments have been awesome for improving the sound, I highly recommend everyone give it a try.
Hi gotvinyl. I do have absorbers at the first reflection points on the side walls. You can't see it as it is just outside the photo view. I have one absorption panel on each side and 3 diffusion panels on each side.
Nice looking room and setup. Not sure what your entire room looks like, but I suggest absorption on the side walls to lower the first reflections. You could temporarily move the absorbers that are behind the speakers to test the improvement in imaging and clarity.
vino_david, I had other speakers in this room before the Polks, Kelinac and Wharfedale, trust me the Polks move more air, a lot more. Plus, I had the Polks before the sub, I probably don't even need the sub. Glad you think the R700s are sh#t, I find them fantastic.
Thanks milpai, just one system now. I had a bedroom system in this house with Wharefdale Lintons, Bluesound Node, and Creek Evolution 100A Integrated, but I gave that gear to a younger guy that I know that wanted to get into hifi.
Congratulations on the new house and the larger room. Good for you. I really like the clean simple looks of the setups. Yeah, the room treatments always helps.
Is it only 1 system now or do you still have the other systems with Elacs and ProAcs?
