Bought Blackbird 12.5" long Tonearm from Russia. It came with loose Litz wires, for me to strip and solder to the Junction Box. Unbelievably 37 strands in each tiny silk covered wire. Terrified me, but, "when the going gets tough, the tough get going". "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" OMG, here I go.
Marked each wire with different colored tape. Pet the silk covering off with a tiny blade, delicate vertical motion.
Lump of silver solder on the connectors in the JB first. Heat the lump, touch the Litz wire to it, attached!!! Oh happy day.
Later, a cartridge clip came off. Found some Instant vinyl. Soldered clip to wire, used Instant Vinyl as Insulation.
Later, insulation wore off at the pivot point of arm, hole wires passed thru had sharp edge.
Thank goodness I had bought a 3 year Square Trade Warranty.
VAS rewired it with his favorite tonearm wire with sturdier covering and converted it to VPI mini din connector.
Square Trade reimbursed me in full!
