I cant move my speakers out from the wall due to traffic patterns along that wall so needed a combined absorber diffuser panel to help bass low end clear up and also help staging increase. The TV may get a cover ultimately but have found dispersion really helpful and no boom from rear port reflections.
I designed and constructed the wall modeled on a Vicoustics slat wall, and some light reading of acoustic design books. I elected as a good architect to compromise the design to both address the acoustic issues and aesthetic concerns of a multifunctional room. The wall was horizontally strapped with 1.5 x 1.5 spruce on a 64 mm stud GWB partition in front of a 200mm cmu wall. The slat wall assembly was constructed with 1.5” rock wool in between and a black cotton material stapled to strapping, finished with cherry 1X2 slats spaced about .75” apart.
I made a deep bookshelf from cherry mounted to the slat wall below the TV.
Very happy with the results in general, I need to break in fully the new stuff but sound has climbed a few more rungs in all respects and I look forward to listening to a range of music in a more balanced engaging system!
